WriteSpan SAT

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

WriteSpan SAT is operated by WriteSpan LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Plain English, no surprises.

What we collect

When you use WriteSpan SAT, we collect:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a hash, never in plain text).
  • Practice data: the questions you answer, the time you spend on each, and your test results — used to calibrate questions, track your progress, and predict your score.
  • Optional profile data: your target score and planned SAT test date, if you choose to provide them.
  • Real-score reports: if you choose to share your actual SAT score after test day, we use it to improve our score prediction model. Sharing is voluntary.
  • Payment information: processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full credit card details.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance monitoring.

How we use it

We use your data to:

  • Provide the practice and testing experience you signed up for.
  • Predict your Digital SAT score and identify your weak areas.
  • Calibrate question difficulty using anonymized aggregate response data.
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, purchase receipts) and, with your consent, study reminders or product updates.
  • Protect the platform from abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your individual practice data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services we use

WriteSpan SAT relies on a small set of trusted vendors to operate:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
  • Vercel — hosts the website itself.
  • Stripe — processes all payments. We do not see or store credit card information.
  • Resend — sends transactional and study-related emails.

Each of these vendors has its own privacy policy and complies with applicable data protection laws.

Cookies and tracking

We use minimal cookies: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, and a device identifier in your browser's local storage for the daily free-questions feature. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Your choices and rights

You can at any time:

  • View and update the personal information in your account.
  • Delete your account and request deletion of your associated data.
  • Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails through the link in any such email.
  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@writespan.com.

Children's privacy

WriteSpan SAT is intended for use by high school students preparing for the SAT, including students under 18. We collect only the minimum personal information necessary to provide the service. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@writespan.com and we will delete it.

Data retention

We retain your account data and practice history for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we permanently delete personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of WriteSpan SAT after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
